As the year progresses and students become acquainted with the Art Centre, one of their most favourite activities to participate in is PAINTING! And one of the best discoveries in Kindergarten is finding out what happens when you MIX ALL THE COLOURS! After reading a fun story called Mouse Paint by Ellen Stoll Walsh, we decided to let the children experiment with their own creativity. Giving them the three primary colours on white paper, we left them alone to mix colours and design a masterpiece of their choice while having some fun with finger painting. We enjoyed watching the students enter into the activity at their own pace: some with great hesitation at getting their hands messy, and others diving into the challenge with reckless abandon! Regardless, each painting turned out a beautiful, unique creation, and the learning about how to make secondary and even tertiary colours unfolded on its own.
